Windows of Light

Introducing a new creative series of short, weekly performances, to be performed from the inside, out, in the front windows of Maple Street, Friday evenings, 5:30-6pm, beginning mid-October.

ANYTHING GOES! Dance, Music, Theater, Musical Theater, Puppetry, Performance Art - EVERYTHING!

With accordion windows on one side, and the boxy square space on the other - complete with little, mini wood floors(!) - owner, Romy Keegan would love to see the windows of Maple Street Dance Space filled with creativity and artistic expression to match the unique spaces and the unusual context of the times! The hope is this will become an anticipated weekly event: a Happy Hour of sorts, offering "craft cocktails" and delicious "appetizers" and "tapas" of art and creativity, that will nourish and delight viewers and presenters alike!

Pieces can be 3 - 30 minutes long. Depending on the length and theme of each piece, Romy will pull together a short, 30 minute offering, and line up Fridays accordingly.

Please contact Romy Keegan at romydancing@gmail.com for more information or if you would like to participate in "Windows of Light"!

Send along any promo you have about you, or your piece, from photos to bios and descriptions, for inclusion in on going promo - and, BE SURE TO PROMOTE IT through your channels as well! Not only is this a fundraiser, but a wonderful opportunity to showcase YOUR visions - the more the merrier!

These events will be by donation, and Maple Street will use 75% of anything that comes in to stay afloat. 25% will be split between the lead creative of each offering, as an honorarium, and a heartfelt thank you!

Performers are welcome to schedule time in the Front Door Studio in order to Play, or, just swing by to take a look and get an idea of the space.

On the (developing) housekeeping and tech side:

Mics and a powered speaker will relay the sound outside.
Christmas light "footlights" will be placed along the floor, and possibly around the entire frame of the windows for general lighting. We'll be figuring some of that out as we go, and as the light outside changes.
As it gets colder we will consider the option of outside heaters.

"Despite the pain, confusion, frustration and general heaviness in our Collective, and perhaps because of it, I hope you will be inspired and maybe even uplifted by this little project, whether as an artist, as an audience member, or both, and see this as a little, Window of Light: our community's Way of creating, embodying, expressing and Shining a Higher Good." ~Romy
