Thoughts and Ideas
Sparked thoughts: After watching some hokey tv the other night, some phrases popped up. "Absence and Desire", "Discovery and Fear". Don't these phrases ring true when applying them to social connection and creativity under today's circumstances?

Thoughts and Ideas
COVID screen-time burnout, disinterest in watching online performance, sound familiar and worrisome? One performance this weekend rekindled that desire. The performance included a Zoom chat back follow-on. The combination answered the need to engage with fellow artists; a personal invitation adds specific interest and enjoyment, and the ability to provide and listen to feedback with the artists afterward is a connection we are all missing these days. This choice is a nurturing stroke of genius for both artist and audience. Maybe this is a direction we should all be pursuing?
Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Today, we honor and celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In his “Loving Your Enemies" sermon, he acknowledges how difficult this idea is. He discusses how and why we should pursue something so counterintuitive and why it is a worthwhile endeavor.
Thoughts and Ideas
A musing swiped from a horoscope and morphed to suit the moment: Creating stability in your art down the line... Thinking into the future... and now? What could you start now that would grow to serve you in a big and beautiful way. If your life were a painting in progress; look at the composition so far, look into the unfilled, open spaces. Look at the saturation and texture of the filled spaces. Think three dimensionally, in layers, space and balance... translate those terms to fit your needs. What is your 'now' step?

Thoughts and Ideas
Musing: Space constraints. Observing solo filming on a budget. Dance for film and dance for stage have different constraints with space, different compositional limits within the visual frame and a different feel of where the audience is for a performer. A tight budget, meaning one unmoving camera, oddly, might be considered closer to live viewing than a finely edited multi camera viewing, however can lead to loss of interest, much like a long shot in a movie that doesn't consider the elements of composition, focus, and energy within the frame. How can an artist combat these constraints and create compelling watching in a small unmoving frame?
