New Content on Advocacy Page

Please take some time to explore some new resources we have added to the Advocacy page.

The first addition is a section dedicated to resources that address issues in the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) dance community. Much of the content is raw and emotional; all of it is thought provoking and requires deep listening and respect. We have provided these resources with the intention of opening the door to discussion among our own local and diverse dance community.

In the other new section, there are links to resources with guidance on studio reopening and dancer health. We hope you will find these considerations useful as you think about reopening dance studios or as you begin to attend classes when studios reopen.

This is the response we received from the NM Governor's Office to our inquiry regarding what category Dance Instruction falls under in Phase One of New Mexico's reopening order:

"Dance studios currently remain mostly prohibited as they fall under “group fitness classes”. They may operate personal training for up to two clients at a time in accordance with the COVID-Safe Practices for Gyms. (This restriction is likely to be lifted in phase 2, the next reopening.) However, dance studios that operate programs for children may do so under the strict guidelines laid out in the COVID-Safe Practices for Summer Youth Programs."
