Job Description Overview

The Grants Administrator is a full-time position that reports directly to the Executive Director. This position is part of a Development team responsible for the full range of fund development activities for the National Institute of Flamenco. These activities include grant writing and reporting with public agencies, private foundations, government entities, and corporations. Specifically, this staff is responsible for writing proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects and for submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing grant funded projects.

Major Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a proposal calendar and annual grants strategy, approved yearly by Executive Director.

  • Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundations, corporations, government entities, and other grant-making organizations.

  • Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants.

  • Evaluate potential grant possibilities submitted by Institute staff and Board of Directors members.

  • Work with Finance to gather information necessary to report to funders.

  • Comply with all grant reporting as required by all grant-making organizations.

  • Accurately track and report status of all contacts, submissions, and results to the Executive Director weekly.

  • Accurately track Institute required metrics for all grants written and report to Grants Administrator.

  • Responsible for meeting minimum annual fundraising goal tied to organizational budget.

  • Understanding of institutional history and programs; understanding of Tierra Adentro of New Mexico Charter School’s history and programs.

  • Make appointments for Executive Director with grant prospects.

  • Oversee, edit, and archive the writings of grant writers.

  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested by the Institute’s Development team.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals. Strong editing skills.

  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge of fundraising information sources.

  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.

  • Knowledge of office systems: Microsoft Office, Dropbox, Mindbody and fundraising database systems (e.g., Donor Perfect).

  • Strong contributor in team environments.

Salary Range:

  • $16 - $18/hour, depending on experience

  • 35 - 40 hours per week;

  • Preferred schedule, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm.
