More Info: CONTENT WARNING: This film contains scenes of brief female nudity.The University of New Mexico MFA candidate Amy Schofield has created a dance film that seeks to empower the flamenco bailaora and reaffirm her physical body as site of meaning making and knowledge creation. A co-opting of film noir aesthetics and an act of flamenco as resistance, Haunted's all-female cast (Keila Gutiérrez, Samantha Martinez, Jesalyn McCollum, Kara Olguín, and Amy Schofield) disrupts limiting and stereotypical portrayals of the bailaora and asks how US-American artists can simultaneously honor and stretch flamenco tradition. Filmed at VSA North Fourth Art Center, the health and safety of cast and crew were of the utmost importance during the making of this film, and all COVID-19 health and safety precautions were considered and carried out in full.
