Artist Spotlight: Shannon Parrales

We are excited to introduce our first artist in the ADC Artist Spotlight series - Shannon Parrales!

ABQ Dance Connect started an Artist Spotlight Series to feature dancers, movers, and creators in Albuquerque. This series is aimed to introduce and connect artists to their ABQ community. If you are interested in being a part of this series, please email info@abqdanceconnect.org or DM ABQ Dance Connect for more information.

I'm Shannon Parrales and I'm from Pojoaque Pueblo. I've been a student for many years, which was dedicated to dancing. Along with dancing, I have discovered my passion for helping others as I now study Community Health Education. I believe our bodies, our culture, our history and our spirits are massive and can take us beyond this world. Learning about the body through dance for many years and now learning about my own identity, I believe people can be strong forces as we grow as individuals and as one community. For all of these reasons, I continue to move my body and mind and have a passion for working with Indigenous communities, through dance and health education.
