Thoughts and Ideas

Musing

Rigidity and flexibility. We all understand the concept of warming up, loosening the tightness we feel in our body to avoid injury and draw out our best movement. We understand flexibility and no strength is an obstacle to control and safety. We understand over control can lead to rigidity in movement. Can parallels be drawn regarding our values, principles, and the way we operate in the world? Grab a partner and discuss where you are rigid and where you are flexible.

Creative Experiment

1. List some "shoulds" that you live by. Replace them in thought with "coulds" and evaluate options and outcomes. 2. make a short choreography confined by strict rules of your making. Perhaps some of your "shoulds" are transferable. Explore the confinement and the limits you have created. Explore your assumptions. Discover the benefits of your limits, expose where you might insert a "could", a circumstance where your given could be altered. Evaluate options and outcomes.
