Last Week of May Thoughts

Thoughts to Ponder:

In honor of Memorial Day and thoughts on connecting and healing, if you haven't already heard about a fellow dancer from Albuquerque named Roman Baca who founded a dance company based in New York with work centered around veterans and the lasting affects of war, check out some of his work through the website Gallery at their website, exit12danceco.org.

Creative:

Look to the Camera - take time this week to explore and experiment with your movement in relation to what is captured on camera/video for creative affect. Dance for Camera is different than filming a stage work. You can create the perspective you want seen, you can see your work from new places, above, below, behind, through, macro, micro, passing... Not to mention edit and make corrections. Play with this. Give yourself a pandemic prompt, hand-washing for instance. Maybe you can choreograph the next public service announcement!

Outdoors - Seek inspiration in new locations. A recent photographer was featured in the Albuquerque Journal, Cara Romero, with a photograph entitled Evolvers, that inspired me to think of our beautiful state as the perfect backdrop to inspire choreography and set choreography with meaning. In the image mentioned there are four young Native boys running beside a wind farm (that are coincidentally socially distanced). Check it out here. Art inspires art. Perhaps you will also find inspiration here.

Encouragement - Yes! Your idea is worthy! Do it!

Remember,
ADC is here for you.
