Thoughts and Ideas 4/3

CONVERSATION Starter

Story and memory. Detail and effect. Have you ever noticed a time when your memory of an event didn't match someone else's? Your review of a performance didn't match? Have you ever read an intention into a behavior that someone else read differently? How easy is it to change what you believe, change your story? Two partial overheard lines, 'it's what you notice', and 'we track the world for...' caused me to wonder about the cause of our bias to notice and unconsciously track the world in a skewed way. Evaluate and discuss, can we chose to notice and track differently?

Exploratory

Make a short variation. Film yourself and have a partner watch. Ask yourself and your partner separately, 'What do you see?' Compare differences in what you notice. Discuss. Watch again for the things your partner noticed. Change something within the variation, film and have a partner watch. Ask separately again "What do you see? Compare, re-watch, continue the game. Discuss .
