Thoughts and Ideas 8/7

Conversation Starter

Break it down. When we set about to teach or learn a choreography we breakdown the whole into steps or phrases. We may start at the beginning, middle, or end. But we break it into bite size portions. So why do we forget this strategy so often, leading to snowballing anxiety through procrastination, in other parts of our lives? Discuss the strategies to alleviate anxiety and get you in your comfort zone - moving - that you can mine from your dance discipline. Steps, timelines, micro exposure, rehearsal, progression, building blocks, etc.

Creative exercise

Examine a micro achievement and break it down into steps: Getting out of bed, for instance. Make it a choreography. Identify a follow on activity.  Examine, break it down, then choreograph it. Put them together. If desired choreograph anxiety.  Look at the activity you keep putting off. Examine it. Break it down. Do the first step. Riff on the idea in choreography with avoidance, anxiety, and micro steps. Discuss.
