Conversation Starter
Half the story: Imagine, someone from whom you expect a call doesn't call. You begin to spin a tale of why. You make up reasons which you begin to believe, only to finally hear from the person and hear something completely different. When presented with a void, we tend to want to fill it. Discuss the dangers and the creative opportunities.
Exploratory
Based on the game where each person in a group adds on to a story, seeing only the last line of the previous person's addition, make a movement phrase, show only the last move to the next person. Repeat. up to the number of people present. Put it all together. Make variations on this game, where the movement "story" can go in one of several different directions.
Make a movement sequence that feels like half, whatever that means to you. Maybe it is imbalanced in one direction. Maybe it uses only half the space. Maybe it is missing the music. Then with another dancer, make the other half. Discuss reactions. Discuss composition.
