Thoughts and Ideas

Musing

Filling in the missing gaps. Have you ever watched a sprinkler system run, noted the number of angles, outlet sizes and reach, timed schedules, days of rest, all to nurture each part of a garden to its best. If one nozzle fails that part of the garden wastes away. Do we, can we, approach our artistic projects this way, create more angles of approach to water our blind spots, work in both short and long sessions with wide and narrow content, with time off to grow and stretch, to let the interweaving roots develop and connect unseen?

Creative Experiment

Brainstorm six or more new approaches to a project. Think wildly out of the box. Discard all but three.

Escape and Inspiration

  • Summer music series are back including the Summer Music Concert series in Old Town every F-Sun., Garden Sounds every TH at the Botanic Gardens, the ABQ BioPark Zoo concerts later in July, Summerfest events late July and Aug. Explore these and other surprises at cultureabq.com

  • Celebrate the monsoons. When the winds begins, stop what you are doing, watch and feel the storm approach, observe the changing light and energy. Dare to get wet.

  • Read about Marika Brussel's choreography, a #metoo contemporary ballet dance film premiering soon, at http://stanceondance.com/2021/07/12/marika-brussel-house-of-names/
