Thoughts and Ideas

Musing

When are you procrastinating vs letting the mind work in the background, synthesizing for readiness? First draft, initial instinct. Final draft, final choice. How often is the first impulse the best? Talk it out.

Creative Experiment

Pick one or more of the following. 1. Pick a topic on which you have surface knowledge. Make a movement phrase based on this topic or write a story, essay, paragraph. Take a few days and converse about the topic with others, read about it, collect a deeper understanding, then revisit your movement or written effort and make a next draft. 2. Pick a topic you have deep knowledge about. Repeat the exercise. 3. Pick a topic you have surface knowledge about. Make a deadline for a movement or writing on the topic. Don't do anything until one hour before the deadline. Then go with your first impulse. Choreograph/write. Compare initial attempts, final works, and the feelings frustrations or satisfactions involved with each exercise.
