Thoughts and Ideas 4/4

Conversation Starter

Word endings, prefixes. Recently I was musing over language. Particularly -ification, -ization, My favorite, spaghettification, read in a children's book referring to the name of the process if we were to go through a black hole. There are many such words, the ending basically meaning to transform or the process of becoming. How many such words can you list or create? Write them down. Observe themes. Divide your list into categories.

Creative Experiment

What if? What if you were to apply the "rules" of one dance genre to another? Balletization, hip hop-ification? We already invent blends of course for the purpose of creativity and art. But consider, how many rules or changes does it take to complete a transformation? Is the transformation purely external or internal? Do the changes linger? Why? Experiment. What if you were to think of the cultural/social/political abstractions to do with transformation/ becoming, both negative and positive. Can you demonstrate this process in dance?
