Thoughts and Ideas

Pedagogy. In ballet there are a variety of known pedagogies and training to teach those methods. Yet in both ballet and most other genres of dance, teacher training isn't a given for teaching, and in many forms doesn't specifically exist. To be sure, there is excellent teaching without specific teacher training found in every genre, but there are also many unsafe and poor teaching practices. What are your thoughts in your genre about this subject? Are there cultural differences and considerations that replace the idea of 'teacher training'? If you were to design a training, a certification, what would you consider of primary importance? Do you feel certification is a bonus or a barrier? Why? How is a family or student to know if they are receiving qualified instruction?

Quote

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness; it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity; It was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness; it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair; we had everything before us, we had nothing before us; we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way--in short, the period was...like the present period."

Seems so current. Guess what this is from. Answer at the end of the email.
