Thoughts and Ideas

Musing

Countering myself. Contemplate, instead of dancing with amazing landmarks, sculptures, murals, what if you filmed dancing in the scenes of daily reality, the places not advertised and beautified. What if you didn't clear the scene of passersby, trash in the gutter, noise. What if?

Creative

Un-mapping. Most of you when hearing the word 'map' will picture a paper map with names and places. Try replacing that concept with a kinesthetic map, a sensory map, a memory map, a story map, a "legend" of your own making. Instead of thinking of a place by name, find other ways to know a place and your way around it. How can you apply this to dance making?

Curious about business development. Organ Mountain Outfitters, is offering a free two week course designed to help businesses develop and enhance their online presence. Perhaps use the pandemic roadblock as time to gain skills to support your art. https://www.organmountainoutfitters.com/pages/new-mexico-2-0

Escape

    - With a good read: "A Long Way From Home" by Peter Carey, leads you on a wild ride through Australia in the 1950's to an unexpected discovery. The book starts as if about one thing, ambition, identity, but after 200 pages dives off a cliff into a deep questioning of assumptions, of how history is presented and identity created.
    - With a Virtual Workshop- Dec 7-11, 5-7pm Keshet is teaching choreography from Nutcracker on the Rocks.$25 to $100.
    - or a Documentary on Netflix "Dance Dreams, Hot Chocolate Nutcracker" by Debbie Allen
    - and don't forget the Comfort food! Pie! Hand Pies, dessert pies, meat pies. It's pie season. And for a little dance with pastry making inspiration, enjoy Nederlands Danz Theater

Always know, ADC is thinking of you.
