Conversation Starter

Applying lessons from another art form to your art form - In dance performance it is natural for many art forms to come together, most notably dance, music, visual art, lighting, and costuming, but how often have you thought of overlap in theory? While we are not meeting on stage, take the time to meet through conversation. Talk to another artist you may know about an element of their art form such as improvisation, composition, pattern, technique, dynamics. Who knows what may come up and grab your attention to make you look at your creative process from a new light. Connect with another artist.

Creative Experiment

Look for a piece of choreography you like and can achieve. Take a small section and learn it. Then apply changes based on a conversation you have with another artist, add, subtract, insert new ideas or obstacles before, within, or after the set piece. Play. Discuss. Play some more.

Quote: "Play is the exaltation of the possible." Martin Buber
