First Week of June Thoughts

Thoughts to Ponder

As Gyms open at 50% capacity under NM's Phase One stage of our New Mexico's COVID19 re-opening, and Prep sports resume under strict guidelines later this month, indoor fitness classes are not yet included in re-opening, leaving dance studios to study and observe. School sports guidelines are listed on KRQE. Also several dance companies in other countries are taking baby steps back into the studio. We can learn from their problem solving as we ponder reopening in Albuquerque.

Creative

Energy and contact:
1. With a dance partner or object-substitute find ways to create readable energy and communication between the two of you at a safe "social distance" using gesture, focus, and dynamic energy changes.
2. Include touch. Use your object-substitute and dance with it. Try a stationary object and an object you can move with yourself in a partner dance.
3. If you have access to a full length mirror, try a dance where you never lose physical contact with your image (there is always Windex for later).

What looks good this week: "The Painter and the Thief" on YouTube, Google Play, Amazon Prime, and Hulu, all around $2. And while I was looking I noticed guildcinema.com is streaming a lot of interesting movies. Support your local business.

Encouragement: Take the long view, and look back. Use your future hindsight now. You've got this.

A Website Update

You may have noticed the Gallery page is gone on our Website. Photos have been relocated. We will continue to show the photos we have in a random, rotating selection on the Home page slide-show. Also check out the posting of a grant announcement for non-profits by the New Mexico Humanities Council (the post below this one).
