Some Ideas to Keep you Going
Creative - There are great places where public art can create moments of inspiration around the city! Visit www.Murosabq.gov for murals and/or www.cabq.gov/culturalservices and click on the interactive map for public art to find them. Visit some of these murals or amazing sculptures just for a physical, inspirational outing or dance in front of them, create some work.Contact Shelle Sanchez, director of the city's cultural Services Dept. and let her know what you are doing. Maybe you can inspire someone else.
Ray-of-hope - The Sunday paper said the State finally got answers from the Federal Government on how to word the questions on the unemployment website for independent contractors, gig, and self-employed. In a few weeks a new platform will be built - that won't crash. In the meantime there is a YouTube video available on how to work through some of the claims processes at www.youTube.com/nmdws
Tired of tech - Can you really grow veggies on a patio, in the cracks between pavement? See if you can grow a veggie in the crack in one of these unlikely places, near enough to water daily, I challenge you. And then there is always dancing in the garden!
Out of bread? Bake your first Pandemic Loaf!- 3 c Flour, 1 cup water(if you want crusty bread make 5tbsp of milk part of that liquid quantity), 2 tsp sugar,11/4 tsp salt, 2 tsp butter, add an act of desperation- "some" seeds or nuts or herbs or even cheese of your choice. Finally add 11/2 tsp Active dry yeast or 1 tsp fast rise yeast like a cherry on top. And then there is all that kneading and rising. Mine had three rises, with two punch downs, and baked for 45 min at 375. Texture achieved: dense, farm bread. Perfect! (not a Wonder bread fan.) Bread making is science, but I am no scientist. Check out some tips online.
Book Recommendation - untried, but recently recommended to me by people who have read them, (with incomplete comments): "I Capture the Castle" by Dodie Smith, " well written, funny", set in... a Castle, I think. "The Topeka School" by Ben Lerner, "male white voices, rhetoric, well constructed," btw an Obama favorite. "Trust Exercise" by Susan Choi, " set in an arts boarding school, seems like in Houston", winner of National Book Award.
