About Lara

Lara Segura (she/her) is a choreographer, performer, producer, and educator whose creative work lives at the intersection of movement, nature, and human connection. Holding an MFA in Site-Specific Choreography, she designs dance experiences that transcend the traditional stage, drawing inspiration from the land and the stories of the communities she engages. Her process is deeply rooted in mindfulness, presence, and play, guided by themes of social justice, environmental consciousness, and the transformative power of art to build community.

Over the course of her career, Lara has explored a wide range of dance styles, performed professionally across the globe, and continually pursued new avenues for learning and artistic growth. Her projects invite audiences to witness and participate in spaces where movement becomes both a form of expression and a tool for dialogue, fostering shared moments of reflection and joy. She has created works that respond to pressing cultural and ecological issues, believing that dance can be both an aesthetic experience and an act of advocacy.

Her professional collaborations and affiliations include National Water Dance, Keshet Dance & Center for the Arts, Albuquerque Dance Connect, the Museum of Us, Malashock Dance Company, Mojalet Dance Collective, and The Grant Plant. Across all her endeavors, Lara aims to leave a lasting impact, paving the way for a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future.
