From there, we will dive into an expressive contemporary combination that translates these foundational principles into dynamic, musical artistry.

Whether you are looking to sharpen your technical precision or explore new creative depths, this class offers a supportive and high-energy environment to connect with fellow dancers. Come ready to move, sweat, and create!

Class Highlights:

– Technique: Strengthening Horton foundations.
– Artistry: Expressive choreography focused on musicality.
– Community: A free networking opportunity for ABQ dancers.

From Albuquerque, and after training at Alvin Ailey School in NYC, Dominic Derrick Guerra became a professional company member and principal dancer with American Repertory Ballet in 2001. His performances with American Repertory Ballet were featured in The New York Times, where critic Jennifer Dunning recognized his partnering in Lauri Stallings’ exorcising Man and noted his precision and lightness in Twyla Tharp’s Baker’s Dozen. Dominic returned to his hometown of Albuquerque to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business administration completed in 2012. He was later commissioned by UNM’s Department of Theatre and Dance to create an original ballet titled Las Soldaderas, inspired by the women of the Mexican Revolution. Guerra currently performs with Festival Ballet Albuquerque. He is also the founder and artistic director of Dominic Derrick Dance Theater, a company that blends classical ballet, modern techniques, and Mexican Folk Technique to bring movement to life and tell stories of triumph, struggle, and love. The company is based at MAES, a movement and expression studio in Albuquerque.
